No I don't think so. Elders know how to work the system better than anyone else. They can cover up any act they or their family commits and the publishers in the Hall will never know. I knew a very prominent elder who was having sex with several sisters--married and single--- for several years. His downfall was he got so cocky that he convinced a young single sister to have sex with him after his talk at a convention outside in the parking lot and 3 attendants caught him in the act.

He was finally disfellowshipped. He ran off with the young sister, about 19 years old, left her after about a year, and convinced his ex-wife to take him back. Today he is a pioneer.

New convention theme

just wanted to post here real quick, as many have joked about it.

we had an announcement in our cong last week about the upcoming one day assembly.

the title of the assembly is "imitate jehovah".

Heading to the Spain and the Holy Land

as part of my journey as a sepahrdic jew, i am off on a journey that will take me to both spain and israel to apply for the right of return offered to me by both nations.. as such i will be absent from this delightful forum during this life-changing odyssey.

till that time we are together again, be assured you are in my thoughts and (for those of you who do not mind) my prayers.. please know you have contributed to me greatly and have helped me much, all of you.

it is rewarding to freely share, discuss, even debate issues here so freely.

the membership rule is simple, you join the organisation for life and undertake to serve for life.. my o.p is based on the poet robert burns who talked about the gift to " see ourselfs as others see us".

i think maybe the hardest thing for me to leave, the jehovers witness " organisation" was to accept how my family and friends will now "see" me.. so my questions are how difficult was it to leave:-.

a) knowing the reaction of friends and family?.

Phizzy why should I even comment? I was in about 42 years and feel the same way you do.

And my health has improved 100% My blood pressure went from 180/90 to 120s/70s

We don't realize the stress and strain of being a JW.

i think this month is two years since i saw londos videos on when ancient jerusalem was destroyed.

those videos started the whole awaking process.

So was it in the year 2011 that there was a consensus here on this website that 607 was a wrong date? Was in in that year that ex-jws finally pulled the curtain on 607-1914 false dates?

The elders of the 1980s are now in their 60s and 70s

having just come back from the uk and spoke with some witnesses to find out how my old congregation is doing, i realized i am now the age that my elders were when i was a kid.

and i wonder what the elders who are now in their 60s and 70s are thinking when they look in the mirror and an old face looks back at them.

many of the elders in my old hall are now retired.

It seems these very sick individuals enjoy watching others suffer and die. Enjoying other peoples trials and unfortunate circumstances is disturbing.

They are sick, they're in a cult.

Cognitive Dissonance

the cognitive dissonance amongst jws has never been more obvious to me then what i just experience in the last 5 min.

long story short i had a phone conversation w/my mom about some things and i mentioned to her to look up what has been going on with their beloved organization in australia.

brother geoffrey jackson of the holy governing body was caught lying numerous times about several subjects including disassociations & shunning.

@disilussioned 2 I understand how you feel. My parents are in there 60s. At this point I don't even want them to wake up. It's all they know and it would shatter their world. I just want them to acknowledge that this isn't the "truth". It's just another religion. But what does it matter I guess.

I honestly don't believe age has much to do with it. I learn ttatt in my 60s. I think it has to do with a person wanting to know the truth regardless of the outcome. I know people in their 20s that don't want to believe the WT is a false organization. And they won't listen to me talk about 1914, overlapping generation, etc. And I've read many experiences where some in their 70s-80s discovered ttatt. It wasn't easy, but it wast natural for them to accept the truth about the WT. I view it as a person to person thing. To many factors why some will not listen and others will.

We had the convention this weekend and many former elders I served had talks in the convention. Most of them are already bald except one elder I grew up with from youth and his hair is all white. He is close to 70 and said in his talk, "Friends, I know we are getting old, but don't despair, very soon we are going to be laughing and the rest of the world is going to be crying in despair when Armageddon finally arrives and everyone will know we had the truth."
